Note, this once would have had a thumb-push-button, that's been removed, making this a solid, fixed, dummy handle.

Please note how the screws terminate into a barrel on the backsides, you'd need to create offset holes to accept these in order for the handle to lay flat (same idea on the rough nipple that remains from the backside of the thumb button area and/or file this area flat).
