For sale is a pair of Antique Arapaho / Cheyenne Beaded Hide Moccasins, circa 1880s-1890s.
The moccasins are made of thick native tanned soft hide (partly buffalo), sinew sewn, with rawhide soles. The uppers are decorated with beads, in a beautiful Cheyenne / Arapaho checkerboard design, sinew sewn, in bead colors white, translucent navy, light blue, corn yellow, 'electrical' blue and translucent amber.
Overall good condition. Hide is soft and supple. Clear signs of use. Hole in sole of left moccasin. Several old repairs. Limited loss of beads.
The moccasins measure each circa 8 1/2" x 3 ".
