THE KYBALION: A Study of the Hermetic Philosophy of Ancient Egypt and Greece. By “Three Initiates.” Chicago: The Yogi Publication Society, 1908. First Edition.
Octavo. Original publisher’s dark cloth, front cover and spine stamped in gilt with decorative panel and device; top edge plain.
Condition: A worn but complete copy. Cloth shows rubbing, soiling, and fraying at spine ends and corners; rear cover with discoloration. Spine somewhat dulled. Front & back hinge broken and text block shaken, with mull exposed; preliminary leaves partially detached on pages 1-30 but holding soundly. Pages toned with occasional small stains and edge wear; no major loss of text. Contemporary penciled notation to front pastedown and occasionally throughout the text. A sound candidate for restoration or a working copy of this influential occult title.
First edition of one of the best-known early 20th-century works on Hermetic philosophy, issued anonymously by the Yogi Publication Society and later associated with William Walker Atkinson. The book synthesizes classical Hermetic concepts into the “Seven Principles,” and has remained continuously in print, influencing later occult, New Thought, and esoteric literature.
