Sediment Buster is a water heater cleaning tool that breaks up sediment clogs, empties tanks with air pressure when coupled with a CO2 cartridge (sold separately), stirs, lifts, and removes unwanted dirt, sediment, and minerals from the tank.

Sediment Buster breaks up, lifts, stirs, and removes sediment and debris from the tank. Compressed air loosens clogs and agitates the tank—much like stirring sugar into a glass of water. After each burst, the airflow creates a vacuum effect that pulls both water and suspended sediment out together through the hose.

Ever wished to observe the drainage process without the hassle of removing the hose? With Sediment Buster, your desire becomes a reality. The transparent window on this tool enables users to monitor the drain valve, providing a clear view of the tank's drainage status right at the point of use.

The Sediment Buster features a nearly 5/8"-wide cavity that runs the full length of the unit, allowing sediment and debris to pass through easily without restriction. Its full-port design enables both water and loosened sediment to flow out freely. As the sediment is broken up, it is lifted and efficiently drawn out of the tank, preventing buildup and improving overall performance.

Say goodbye to the hassle of makeshift methods like augers or coat hangers. The Sediment Buster tool eliminates the need for invasive measures. And if a restrictive drain valve needs to be replaced, Sediment Buster allows you to fully empty the tank first—avoiding the mess and risk of removing a drain valve from a tank full of water.

Sediment Buster was born from the practical experience of a master plumber frustrated by the difficulty of draining and removing full water heaters from basements. Instead of relying on improvised tools like coat hangers to clear clogs, he envisioned a better solution—using controlled air pressure to break up sediment and restore flow. That idea became sediment buster.

We conducted a test by elevating a hose 10 feet and draining a full water heater using only minimal air pressure. Since just 0.433 PSI is required to lift water one foot, as little as 5 PSI of head pressure is enough to move water through a hose and up a flight of stairs. By pulsing air at the drain valve, pressure is maintained while the drain opening remains clear throughout the process.

Our master plumber insisted on incorporating a clear viewing window into the tool. Even experienced plumbers can have difficulty confirming proper drainage when the end of the hose is 50 feet away or on another floor. The transparent window allows you to clearly see the draining action in real time and provides a fascinating view of what’s being flushed from the tank with each burst of air. It adds both confidence and a surprisingly engaging element to the process.
