Not only is this tried and tested colourway strikingly modern & eye-boggling, the lamp has also been adapted to become an infinitely more practical & integral piece of illumination within your interior. By customising the lamp to have a pull-chain, as opposed to the switch on the cable, in an instant the irritation of reaching & pulling up the cable has been eradicated. Now with the undeniably more ergonomic action of a simple pull action from a comfortable height & with an uninterrupted motion, the lamp has thus been elevated.

Do not underestimate the level to which this will have improved your use of the space in which this lamp sits by having abolished the irritant that is having to scramble around for the on/off switch on a cable. Take the time to think about other lamps in your home where this is the case & how much more pleasant it would be not having to find the damn switch on the cable…now you’re thinking about how to go about customising all of those same existing lamps to a pull-chain aren’t you? I’d apologise for bringing this to your attention but I’m afraid it wouldn’t be sincere.

If Adler & the manufacturer had had in their minds the end-user at all times then this would have been considered & actioned throughout the design & manufacturing process, in my opinion. To ask for such a price I believe this relatively simple adaptation should come as standard with such designs. Somewhere along the line the end-user was knowingly or unknowingly overlooked/dismissed/forgotten about or it was deemed not cost effective.

Whatever the reason it has now been corrected, with the aid of an electrician, by customising all the Carnaby Lamp bases that I have for sale. Again do not underestimate the impact this will have as you won’t ever find yourself questioning why you spent a large sum on a lamp such as this as you’ll never have reason to find it an irritant.

The Carnaby Lamp Base also comes in a black/grey colourway. I have shown the bases with lampshades from House of Hackney, all of which are available to purchase separately. The combination of a strong or “busy” fabric & the equally bold lamp bases would most likely fall into the maximalist category. Some shades are more successful than others and while some might be termed as clashing with one another, I would argue it just highlights the flexibility & versatility of such designs.

The combination of Adler’s x2 Carnaby lamp bases and House of Hackney’s x1 lampshades would retail at £1445.00 RRP and that doesn’t take into account the cost of customising it with a pull chain. So whatever your taste is you can at least be reassured that these quality items command suitably high prices from reputable designers & manufacturers. All such items were procured by me to sell, so are all in that sense NEW/BRAND NEW/MODIFIED.
