An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm])

The Great Sinner, the 1949 Robert Siodmak Monte Carlo compulsive casino gambling melodrama ("A Great Star for every Role in a Great Drama!"; "Possessed by a power more devastating than the seven deadly sins!"; "Story by Ladislas Fodor and Rene Fueloep-Miller"; "Based on the world-famous story, 'The Gambler'"; about a young writer going to Monte Carlo to write about gambling, and becomes a compulsive gambler himself) starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Melvyn Douglas, Walter Huston, Ethel Barrymore, Frank Morgan, Agnes Moorehead, and Ludwig Donath

Condition: good to very good. There are a few pinholes scattered in the poster (some are torn or enlarged due to rough removal). It is otherwise in generally nice condition.

STORYLINE

Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Walter Huston, Melvyn Douglas, Ethel Barrymore, and Frank Morgan star in "The Great Sinner" about a writer who gets the gambling bug big-time. Set in the 1860s, the story concerns a writer (Peck) who falls for a woman (Gardner) whose life, and that of her father's (Huston), is dedicated to gambling. They're waiting for the matriarch of the family (Barrymore) to die so that they will no longer be beholden to the owner of a casino (Douglas). He has 200,000 (francs, I think) of the father's notes, and in return, he wants Gardner. One can hardly blame him - she's so gorgeous in this movie, and her costumes so stunning, she nearly burns up the celluloid. The writer tries his hand at gambling and soon becomes a complete addict.

All posters will shipped rolled even if the poster was folded, refolding the poster could cause damage to the fold lines.
