Gibson J-200 Artist NT Used Acoustic Guitar
Gibson produced the SJ-200, a premium model, in 1937. Known as the "King of Flattops," it continues to be beloved by Bob Dylan and many other country and bluegrass musicians. This instrument, a "J-200 Artist," was produced at the Kalamazoo factory from 1973-75. It features a spruce top, maple sides and back, a three-piece maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, a large pickguard, a crown headstock logo and fingerboard positions, gold keystone Kluson tuning machines, and standard slotted saddles. The Kalamazoo factory relocated several times after its opening. The factory expanded in line with Gibson's growth, and it continued to produce the Gibson sound for nearly 60-70 years. Unfortunately, the Kalamazoo factory closed in the early 1980s, and Gibson acoustics began production at the Montana factory in 1989, where it continues to this day. This instrument was manufactured in the Kalamazoo factory, and while some minor design changes have been made to the bridge and other parts, it still retains its dazzling appearance worthy of the king of flat-tops. It features flagship-style inlays, multi-layered binding, and a decorative pickguard. The sound is punchy, with ample headroom for bass, and a rich sound characteristic of this size. Its crisp, bright, and loud sound, along with its explosive tone, are also attractive features. Its clear, crisp sound is perfect for dynamic strumming, while fingering produces a beautiful, slightly sweet resonance. This guitar has surprising potential for versatility. Its weathered appearance, with a well-finished appearance, is full of character. While the plating on the knob on the first string side of the tuning machine head is peeling and appears silver in places, all parts, frets, and finish remain original. Although there are very slight signs of use, such as minor dents and scratches from playing, this guitar is in very good condition considering its age. While the string height is slightly high by modern standards, it's in excellent playing condition and doesn't feel difficult to play. The J-200 Artist is surprisingly rare. Give it a try and experience a sound that's a little different from other vintage models. Includes original hard case.
