1976 Press Photo Famed actress Clara Bow and Gary Cooper in a Movie Scene
This is an original press photo. According to Joe Morella and Edward Z. Epstein, authors of the "It" Girl, actor Gary Cooper was another important man in Clara Bow's life. They write that the couple's "Tempestuous Love Affair...lasted a couple of years. Eventually, they met only intermittently..." According to the authors, John Gilbert, the screen's leading onscreen lover was another man in Clara's life. There was publicity about a possible marriage. But their "fling" did not last long. And, note the authors, "Clara couldn't have really cared less -- 'He's no Gary Cooper, believe me!' She confided to Hedda Hopper." According to Morella and Epstein, Clara "spurned" Al Jolson although "she had even said yes to Eddie Cantor and Bela Lugosi."Photo measures 8 x 10.25inches. Photo is dated 7-2-1976.
