ABOUT THE SIGNER

Wolfgang Späte was a highly respected German Luftwaffe fighter pilot and aviation commander during World War II. He is best remembered for his association with the revolutionary Messerschmitt Me-163 Komet, the world’s first operational rocket-powered fighter aircraft. Späte played a major role in the development and operational testing of advanced German aviation technology during the war and later documented his experiences in aviation history publications including Top Secret Bird.
