Smith's Indicator map of London, 1883

Description:

A map of London from Paddington, in the north-west, to Hackney, in the north-east, and Parson's Green, in the south-west, to Deptford, in the south-east. The street index and tape indicator are attached. The tape measure was introduced so that travellers could accurately calculate the distance between two points and thus ensure that cab drivers didn't try to overcharge them.

Ref: Not in Hyde (Printed Maps of Victorian London) but under H54 this example should be inserted between states 23 and 24.

Condition: Good. Folding map laid on linen. Slightly age toned. Enclosed between blue board. The attached photo is part of the item description, please examine carefully.
