Hard to find button-type hanging medal/medallion of St. Spyridion photograph. Two-piece pressed-together construction; bottom is metal (tin?) and top is unknown construction. Accepted as a saint in the Catholic church, he is more well-known and venerated in Orthodox traditions. Patron saint of potters. Alleged to have been at Council of Nicea, where a miraculous occurrence is attributed to him concerning a demonstration of the workings of the Holy Trinity. There is a long, documented history of his incorruptible body, which is what's pictured on this object. Measures 5 inches long without twine hanger. Has scratches typical to objects like this due to age/use/storage. Age unknown but is vintage for sure.
