Important: Built-in SIM / Live Traffic on GO 5000/5100/6000/6100

The GO 6100 has an internal GPRS (2G) modem with built-in SIM for TomTom Services (Traffic, speed cameras). TomTom documents that GO 5000/5100/6000/6100 use a built-in GPRS modem and need cellular network coverage to connect.

If the local 2G GSM network has been decommissioned, the built-in SIM cannot connect, so Live Services via the device’s SIM will not work in that country. TomTom’s Swiss support notice states that after the 2G shutdown, devices with integrated SIMs can no longer receive TomTom Live Traffic or connected services via that SIM.

Workaround: You can still get TomTom Services by connecting the sat nav to your smartphone (Bluetooth / hotspot) following TomTom’s guide for connecting to TomTom Services.

Navigation and offline maps work normally; only Live Services depend on internet connectivity as above.
