Ring / No Ring Bell - A fun magic enhancement to any routine using a volunteer!.
The Ring/No-Ring Bell looks like an ordinary bell, but hidden inside is a simple gimmick that can be controlled by the magician, allowing
the bell to be rung or not rung whenever the magician wants, even when handed to a volunteer.
Rather than reveal the simple but very effective mechanics behind how it works, here's how it doesn't work:
No remote control, electronics, circuits, batteries or charging cables.
No outside operational help.
Nothing that the performer needs to squeeze, twist, turn, push, pull, slide or hold in position.
No sleight of hand involved.
Nothing is ever added or taken away from the bell.
Nothing that the performer needs to wear or needs nearby.
There's nothing to set up (it's always ready.)
How the Ring/No-Ring Bell is used during a performance is up to the Magician. A typical use might be:
Effect:
The magician asks a volunteer to "Ring the Magic Bell" in order to accomplish a magic trick. They rehearse how
to hold the bell (the top of the handle) and ring the bell (gently swing it side to side). Both make it ring without a
problem. But when the time comes for the volunteer to "Ring the Magic Bell" for the big finish of the trick, the bell is
swung but it won't ring. The magician stops the show and apologizes to the audience. They quickly rehearse for
a second time and everything goes perfectly. They both can ring the bell.
The magician starts the trick from the beginning again, and when the time comes, asks the volunteer to "Ring the
Magic Bell". The volunteer swings the bell but, again it doesn't ring! Once again the magician stops the show and
apologizes to the audience. After checking out the bell and seeing that it rings, the magician has an idea and puts a
magic wand in the volunteer's pocket (or a tophat on the volunteer's head) and tries the trick one last time with the
added magical items. "Please, please, please... Ring the Magic Bell" says the magician. To everyone's surprise, the
bell rings loud and clear and the magician successfully gets a big finish to the trick! Both take a well deserved bow!
Yes, the performer needs to touch the bell in order to engage or disengage the gimmick (which is not emphasized in the
above description), but it's done in such a natural way that it literally goes unnoticed and defies detection. Because of
the special hidden gimmick, the "moves" are as simple as "putting the bell down" to engage the "no ring" feature, or turning
it over before "placing the bell down" to allow the "ring" feature. That's all there is to it!***
Measurements: 5-1/8" H, 2-5/8" W - (In magician's terms: Slightly shorter than a Sharpie, slightly wider than a poker deck.)

***(The secret lies in the difference between "putting the bell down" and "placing the bell down" and will be clearly explained
in the instructions, along with how best to hold the bell and the way it should be rung. Also included is a brief explanation of
what's happening inside the bell when it's turned over so you'll have a better understanding of how the hidden gimmick works.)

*PLEASE NOTE: Inflation has finally caught up to us and our suppliers. To combat the situation, we've opted to make the
Ring / No Ring Bell using a slightly smaller bell (The measurements given in the above description are 3/8 of an inch smaller in
height and in width than our original bell). In doing so, we only have to increase our selling price $5.00 ($32.50 +shipping). We
hope you understand and still find it to be an affordable and quality effect, worthy of adding to your repertoire.
