It is a canvas bag, not plastic, and there is not really any wear to it.  There is one spot under the front flap with a couple of marks, I took a picture of that.  The bag is stiff and has a couple of dividers in it for books or computer.  There is a space for pens in the front and a pocket.  There are also pockets on the side.
