* Special Note:  The George W. Hill & Company (Sometimes referred to as the Hill Seed Company) Started its beginnings in 1863 in the now extinct Grant County town of Hardscrabble, Kentucky. The family-owned business moved to Covington in 1865 and eventually expanded to serve 4 states. Though the company started as a grocery store, It transitioned in 1953 to become a local prominent lawn, garden, and pet supply store. The company distinguished itself by carrying unique items, including their own blends of wild and indoor bird seed. Unfortunately, in 1998, the company was closed and sold to ArgiBio Tech, Inc., after a 133-year span through 5 generations.
