Subtle and shimmering rare designer find Ben Reig New York shift dress from the 1960s. Silk chiffon is studded with hundreds of pale green rhinestones. Inside is lined in (what appears to be) peach silk as well. This creates an interesting effect - the sleeveless shift has a wide arm opening where the designer adds on an additional run of rhinestone fabric along the peach liner - giving the (sexy) effect of seeing the shape of the body accentuated through the view into the interior of the dress. The dress does fit snuggly through the hips given the room in chest and waist. The color is the palest celery. Really a beautiful piece that would look amazing under any kind of light. A great choice for an evening special occasion in the summer. Some loose threads along hemline - but otherwise this is in amazing shape.
From Vintage Fashion Guild: "The design firm Ben Reig was founded in 1929. The main designer at Ben Reig from 1941 through 1954 was Omar Kiam. Starting in 1948, Kiam also did a line of costume jewelry for Ben Reig. Eva Rosencrans designed for Ben Reig starting in 1961. Both designers were known for their elegant, simple, luxurious (and expensive) designs."
