An exceptional and rare antique Art Deco era ca. 1920s diamond platinum ring set with a large round red coral centerpiece. The red coral of a superb and scarce ultra deep red color of the finest and most sought after hue. The coral is natural and untreated in any way. The coral's round spheroid shape measures 15.0x15.0x8.5mm and has an estimated weight of about 15 carats within setting. The specific deep red color and ox blood hue is most certainly of one of the finest and seldomly seen examples of either the Japanese Aka or Sardinian corals. The coral is absolutely firm in color without a single hint of a color imperfection throughout. It usually takes over half a century for coral to grow this size and only a small percentage of the corals of this size grow with such an even color and quality. An absolute masterpiece of nature and a precious gem only comparable to natural saltwater pearls.

The coral is open set into a graduating by size fish scales shaped platinum semi-mount such that the bulging shape and quality of the coral centerpiece makes its grand statement. On both sides there is a total of 26 round transitional brilliant cut diamonds of various sizes and estimated combined weight of about 1.20 carats. On the average, all diamonds exhibit a fine white G color and VVS2 clarity. The bottom base of the ring is intrinsically pierced into a stylised Japanese chrysanthemum flower design which was typical for the Art Deco period and the "Japonais" influence of that time. The ring is not marked with maker's marks or hallmarks, but we believe it is of a French make. Gross weight of the ring is 7.8 grams and size is 52 (US size 6 / UK size L). The quality and crfatsmanship of the piece is further comparable to the top designer firms of this era like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chaumet, Lacloche Freres, etc. to name a few... It is an absolutely scarce antique jewelry collector piece and one of the rarest and emblematic finest Red Coral Art Deco rings and jewels.
