A lovely and truly captivating circa 1900 Turn Of The Century Edwardian cluster ring adorned with a rectangular cushion cut 1.30 Carat natural Burma / Burmese Mogok mine sapphire centerpiece surrounded by a cluster of round old European diamonds. The fine antique Burmese sapphire has been thoroughly inspected by the GCS-London Gem Lab and was confirmed to be natural with no indications of heating or other treatments. The 1.30 carat Burma sapphire measures 7.4x6.0x3.1mm and is millegrain set into a delicate platinum border. The sapphire possesses a magnificent intense Royal Blue color. It is eye clean and exhibits some natural inclusions and surface fractures that are typical to sapphires and Type II gems in general. Surrounding the sapphire is an oval cluster of 14 round Old European diamonds of relatively equal sizes. The diamonds have average diameters in the 1.6-1.8mm range and total estimated diamond weight of about 0.35 carats. All diamonds possess an average H white color and SI1-I1 clarity. The base of the ring is finely crafted in pierced platinum with intervening and intersecting embroidery like spider web motifs. The top face of the ring measures 13x11mm (0.51"x0.44") and its gross weight is 2.8 grams. Ring size is 54 (US size 7 / UK size N), but can be resized. Although unmarked, the present ring was most likely crafted in France or Switzerland. It is important to note that natural untreated and unheated Burmese sapphires of this color, quality and origin are usually considered very rare and fetch many tens of thousands of dollars per carat. Absolutely scarce antique jewelry collector piece and one of the rare turn of the century Edwardian Burma sapphire rings and jewels in general.
