A truly exceptional antique late 1930s Art Deco diamond cocktail ring in pierced openwork platinum. The ring is of a square geometric design with pierced platinum scrolls and swirls paved with mixed symetrically set round transitional brilliant and baguette cut diamonds. The two main centerpiece round diamonds measure approximately 6.1-6.2mm in diameter, having an estimated combined weight of about 1.70 carats (0.85 ct. each). One of the diamonds is an average H color and VS1 clarity and the other is J / SI2. There are another 4 larger round brilliant cut diamonds set to each corner of the square of the ring's face, having average diameters of 4.5mm and estimated combined weight of another 1.40 carats (about 0.35ct. each). There are also another 4 smaller round diamonds set in between the platinum scrolls with combined weight of 0.20 carats. Parallel to the vertically placed 2 large center diamonds there are another 6 baguette cut diamonds set horizontally to emphasise on the typical Art Deco fashion and design of that era. The baguette cut diamonds are of mixed sizes, including 2 long diamonds (4 x 1.5mm) and 4 nearly square cuts of 3 x 2mm. All 6 baguette diamonds have an estimated combined weight of 0.78 carats. All of the smaller round brilliant and baguette diamonds have an average G/H color and VS1 clarity. Total estimated diamond weight of the ring is 4.08 carats. Absolutely ALL diamonds have an exceptional sparkle and fire and stunning appearence.
The ring's top is a nearly perfect large square measuring 20 x 20mm (0.80") and gross weight of the ring is 9.6 grams of platinum. Ring size is 48 (UK size I-J, US size 4.5), but it can be easily resized to another finger size. The shank is marked 10% IRID. PLATINUM and the ring was most likely crafted in the US.
