Artistry was recorded in 1978 by legendary bassist Norris Jones aka Sirone and it was his first album as a leader following the recent split of the Revolutionary Ensemble, which saw him play with cult stars of that era such as Pharoah Sanders, Albert Ayler and John Coltrane. It is a wildly experimental and unusual jazz album that melds instruments, bass, cello, flute and percussion into music that is challenging yet rewarding, thrilling and emotive. There are only four tracks but each one is brilliantly potent and impossible to predict.
