Red Grandis is the most environmentally friendly hardwood available; it is durable, stable, and dense, making it the ideal choice for both internal and external applications. All our Red Grandis is produced in sustainably managed, FSC certified plantations. The trees are harvested after just 20 years, making this a very environmentally conscious timber and a net absorber of carbon dioxide.
Not only is Red Grandis a 'Green' choice, it is also ethically sourced. Being plantation grown, the timber is highly sustainable, and extracted without disturbance to natural forests. The certification requirements ensure that the plantation workers receive a decent livelihood and that their health and safety needs are met. As a result, the local economy benefits and this in turn should help reduce illegal logging of other species.
General Description:
Eucalyptus grandis. A native of eastern Australia, but plantation grown in South America (Uraguay). Heartwood varies in colour from pale, light pink, to medium red. The timber is uniform, straight grained, and has a fine texture. Typically the timber weighs around 600kg/m3.

We have an ethical purchasing policy ensuring that the natural environment, in particular the biodiversity and sustainable production of forests is considered of the utmost importance. Where possible timbers are sourced from FSC certified supplies.
This timber can be delivered by carrier or collection is possible by arrangement from our works near Eccleshall, Stafford (approximately 9 miles from Junctions 14 or 15 of the M6). The delivery shown is for mainland UK delivery (England, Wales and Scotland excluding highlands). Payment should be via PayPal or cash on collection.
