Sterling Spoon Ring

This lovely ring has been hand crafted from a beautifully simply designed sterling silver 925 spoon which wraps the handle to the outside, the bowl has been folded to create a lovely Asymmetrical form. Fully assayed the ring has a full set of English Hallmarks including the 2022 commemorative mark for the Queens 70th Jubilee, which are displayed as detail to the outside of the ring (Makers Mark CA, 925, Birmingham Assay, Lion Passant, 2022, ER 700 Orb for the Jubilee)

This ring is currently size N (UK) or 6 3/4 (US) but can be adjusted to sizes K,L,M,N,O or P please specify if you would like a different size in the box above, if not specified an N will be sent. It will come packaged with a hand made unbleached cotton bag featuring a hand painted little bird

Jewellery made from any UK hallmarked piece of cutlery by law must be submitted to one of the UK assay offices for either a change of use certificate where original hallmarks are displayed or for new hallmarking where they are too worn or hidden. All our spoon rings, sugar tong and fork bangles are legally approved for sale by the assay office.

 Spoon rings were first made in 17th century England as wedding rings by servants who could not afford expensive precious metals. Servants would steal a silver spoon from their master and have it turned into a wedding ring to be worn on the thumb of their love. Servants who were caught were sentenced for "stealing a silver spoon". An expression of love would be punished with a sentence of 7 years imprisonment overseas. When they arrived some of the servants are recorded as having met skillful prisoners who could create these beautiful rings and they would take yet another spoon from an officer or their new master to present their love with a precious token.

Ever since these times, spoon rings have been a timeless and unique gift of love, 
a wonderful piece of heritage not forgotten
