The Woolly Bugger is commonly categorised as a wet fly, lure or streamer and is generally listed as one of the top patterns to have in any fly box. The Woolly Bugger has a marabou tail that provides a pulsating movement in the water and imitates many insects including dragon fly, damsel nymphs and is a great lure for imitating fry. The Woolly Bugger is used by fly fishers through the world and accounts for huge numbers of trout caught annually. The fly can be fished all through the year using a variety of methods, either with a slow figure-of-eight retrieve, drifted dead in the water or stripped quickly across the surface. The superb motion from the pulsating marabou tail often triggers a strike from predatory trout.
