This service is necessary for installing used PCM's, key, or Immobilizer to ensure compatibility with your existing ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND OTHER MODULES. Failure to follow the proper reprogramming sequence when installing a used PCM will cause problems, up to and including a no start condition, sometimes requiring a tow to a dealership or locksmith to complete the installation.
