This beautiful mask is made in the typical Mali Dogon fashion, with typical Dogon's style. The Dogon people migrated to the Bandiagara escarpment region in West Mali, South of the Niger bend, around the 14th century, and they live today in the central plateau region of Mali, near the city of Bandiagara and in Burkina Faso. The population numbers between 400,000 and 800,000. The Dogon are best known for their religious traditions, their mask dances, wooden sculpture and their architecture.
The mask is of high quality, beautiful made with plenty of details and a very good patina.
