The Red Star Shipping Line was founded in 1871 and stopped operations in 1935. The Antwerp based liners carried such notables as Albert Einstein and Irving Berlin out of Germany, right before the rise of the Nazis. This rare silver metal ashtray is stamped with the Red Star 5 point star flag, above a banner that says Red Star Line, on its front. The back of the tray is stamped: A 26287 Elkington Plate and has a circled "M." We believe the tray dates around 1923. The ashtray is in good, age-related condition.
The tray is approx. 7 3/8" long x 4 1/4"
