THE GOOD GENIUS THAT TURNED EVERYTHING INTO GOLD or the Queen Bee and the Magic Dress: A Christmas Fairy Tale

London: David Bogue, 1847. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 194p. WITH SLIPCASE FROM BAYNTUN BINDERY.

A small hardcover book bound in gilt-decorated green cloth. All foredges gilt. Good condition overall. The hinges were starting to crack, but have been repaired. The spine remains a bit cockeyed and faded, and there are faint speckly stains on the front board. Previous owner's neat bookplate inside the front cover. The illustration on page 1 has faded onto the facing page, which is the list of illustrations. Scant foxing on the edges; otherwise, text unmarked and binding secure enough for reading purposes. Comes in a custom wrapper made of green cloth-covered boards and a half-morocco slipcase designed by the Bayntun bindery. The leather is lightly rubbed and has a dark spot near the top, but is otherwise smooth and tastefully decorated with gilt accents and five raised bands.
