This file drawer is in very good condition .  It belonged to my grandfather about the early 1900's.   It is in excellent condition as far as the wood and construction go, and the drawer slides smoothly with no problems.  It is bigger than most I have seen, 16 3/8" long, 8 3/8" wide, and 6 9/16" tall.  All the joints are tight and sound.  It does have a few small spots, but nothing big, and no damage.  Wear from normal use.  A little discolored on top at the front, from general use.

The Globe-Wernicke Company was formed as a result of the Cincinnati based Globe Files Company (est. in 1882) purchasing the Minneapolis based Wernicke Company, founded in 1893 by Otto Wernicke, in 1899. The company is best known for their high-end bookcasesDesks, and other office furniture. Globe Wernicke established factories in the United StatesCanadaUnited KingdomFrance and Germany.

This box was made before the Globe company bought the Wernicke Company in 1899.
