MARLEN IL DAVID

David is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created in marble between 1501 and 1504 by the Italian artist Michelangelo and preserved in the Accademia Gallery in Florence. Widely considered a masterpiece of world sculpture, it is one of the emblems of the Italy. The work portrays the biblical hero when he is about to face Goliath. The cap and barrel are White celluloid with a silver band that depicts David, always considered, in art, the ideal of male beauty (as the Venus of Botticelli is considered the canon of female beauty). The silver clip resemblings the shape of a chisel: it was thanks to the incessant work with hammer and chisel that the great Renaissance artist managed to preserve the elasticity of his hands until the last day of his life.
