This listing is for the 19th century charcoal drawing attributed to Georges Laugee (French, 1853-1937) pictured above.

This lovely drawing depicts a peasant woman amidst a field and bundle of wheat calling out to two figures in the distance. The drawing is mainly charcoal, but also has some highlights in what appears to be white chalk and possibly watercolor.

This drawing was likely a preparatory work for the artist and bears a striking resemblance to a larger painting by Laugee (picture included of this painting above). This drawing very well could have been the artist’s sketch for that painting.

The drawing measures about 10.5 inches tall by 13.5 inches wide. The frame measures 15.25 inches tall by 18.75 inches wide. The drawing is unsigned and matted and framed behind glass.

Condition: Good antique condition. Some scuffs to paper surface, but it appears they may have been intentional to provide texture to the wheat/grass. Some staining on the back of the paper, but doesn’t affect the image. Typical wear to frame along with some cracking/slightly protruding nails as pictured. It is ready to be hung up and enjoyed!
