Dia. 8mm (Many hooks are manufactured from 6mm dia. material which is acceptable for 1 metre long but as the length is increased it is important to increase the diameter of the steel used to maintain strength. We use 8mm on 120cm / 10mm on 1.5 metre and 12mm on 2 metre hooks).

Some shepherds hooks are supplied in 2 pieces that you can screw together but this creates a 'weak point' in the shaft that can cause the hook to bend or break. All our hooks are manufactured from 1 piece (no joins) for added strength and durability.
