Maynard Reece, "The Valley-Pintails". S/N #144/950We just lost Maynard in early June at the ripe old age of 100. Certainly he has been a giant in the duck stamp print world, and his beautiful, distinctive style is recognizable at a glance. He has been a favorite of mine for years, so you may see some prints that are not commonly on the market-others will be more familiar. He was a midwestern guy, from Iowa, and traveled extensively to inculcate the environments as well as the looks and colors of the wildfowl. For instance, in this print, I'll bet it is Horicon Marsh in Central Wisconsin. The marsh was scooped out by the receding glacier and the topography thus created was perfect for water accumulation and marsh growth. In the fall you can see wave after wave of migrating geese, ducks, swans, cranes and pelicans coming through. What a gift for Reece to capture the glory of that phenomenon in a print.I am selling my lifetime collection. If you need something but don't see it, please ask, I may just have it. Good Luck,Mac
