A hugely popular saint and highly revered not only in Italy, he is mentioned in chapter XII of the Book of Revelation where the Archangel is presented as an opponent of the devil and winner of the last battle against Satan and his supporters: «A war then broke out in the heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon (...) The great dragon, the ancient serpent, the one we call the devil and satan and who seduces the whole earth, was precipitated on earth and with him his angels were also precipitated ».

Michael, head of the angels, first alongside Lucifer (Satan) in representing the angelic couple, then separates himself from Satan and the angels who make the split from God, remaining faithful to him instead, while Satan and his hosts fall into the Underworld.

The prince of light San Michele is protector of law enforcement and therefore of legality, but also an thoughtless and, I would say almost blasphemous, cult object by some, attempt to appropriate positive symbols for their own use and consumption. And the eternal struggle of Good against Evil continues, under the sign of San Michele.
