This listing is for a lovely 19th Century English gentleman's jewelry box with fitted interior, c. 1870-1880. This attractive figured walnut box has ebonized top edge and is decorated with engraved silver plated brass ormolu mounts on each corner and center of the lid with coordinating cover decorating the key hole. The box has a lift top that opens to expose a deep burgundy silk covered interior with a fitted slot for holding an antique pocket watch and other men's fashion accessories. The fitted drawer lifts to expose a silk covered area below. The brass hinges are tight and the box opens and closes correctly. The locking mechanism is intact and included is a working key. Box has a felt type covering on flat base.
Measures 3 3/4" high, 8" long and 5" wide. Weighs 1.7 pounds.
This nice box is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The interior fabric is clean and in good condition. Box has beautiful patina and reflects only minimal signs of normal wear.
