The Fransiscan hand painted, Desert Rose dinnerware has gone through a few different production companies in different countries over the years, each with a slightly different take on the pattern. The original was Made in California for many years, 1949-1984. The second iteration was produced in the UK from 1985-2003 and finallly the latest pieces are, unfortunately, produced in China.
So to keep your set straight you should check the stamp on the bottom to match yours.
