You are bidding on a 1/4", single flute, double ended upcut router bit/end mill. The cutting length is 3/4" and the overall length is 4 1/2". These router bit/end mills were most likely used in pin routers with a much deeper collet. I have used them very successfully in a milling machine and in a standard plunge router. To use in a plunge router you must cut one end off. What a waste. Or cut the router bit in half. If you cut the bit in half, you have to be careful how thick you make your template to get the full use of the cutter length. I have found that using a slightly smaller router bit than the desired mortise makes for a much better finish. If you use the same size router bit as mortise, the bit tends to chatter making a sloppy mortise and ruined work. As an example, to get a 3/8th mortise using a 5/8th guide bushing, you would make your template 43/64th wide. The results are amazing!!!! Please see pictures. The example shown is using a rock hard piece of ash, and leaves a glass like finish. If you need to make mortises or waste removal on something like small boxes, this router bit is definitely worth a try. At this price you can afford to experiment.
