Antique African Talking Drum Drumstick Authentic Folk Art Handmade Percussion Instrument from Niger

Authentic talking drum that I personally acquired from a village near Niamey Niger.

This piece was made and used locally, not made for the tourist trade. 

Both drum heads are intact, but discolored and somewhat stiff. One head has a scuff on it. 

A section of the tension cords and one shoulder strap attachment had been replaced by newer, rougher textured leather strands. 

The shoulder strap is old fabric. 

The drum body has some geometric carvings in bands at the expansions. There are beans inside the drum body for added percussion effects. 

A piece of wood has broken off the edge of the drumstick head. 

The drum measures about 17 3/4 inches tall and 7 3/4 inches in diameter.

The drumstick is about 11 1/2 inches long.

One of a kind authentic piece.
