Please note Silver plated is not waterproof and any liquid that touches it will cause discolouration and possibly rust.  Liquid includes but is not limited to perfumes, lotions, water and even sweat.  You may not realise but our fingers sweat alot, especially during the summer months and this will cause your plated ring to discolour.  Plated is also affected by the air, oxygen sends its yellow so when not wearing make sure to put inside a pouch to prolong its life.
