Listing is for a brand new single 5.6mm Osram PLTB450B 1.6W 450nm Laser Diode. Diode is capable of 2W of output comparable to the 2W M140 for power and has a slight divergence advantage. Diode is useful for light show, CNC engraving and many more applications.

Don't attempt to connect the diode directly to a fixed voltage source like a battery. The diode requires a proper laser driver to operate. I offer few laser drivers that will work for this diode. See these units I offer.

There are many other proper laser drivers but be careful a lot of sellers here are offering LED drivers as a laser driver which can damage or cause shortened life to the laser diode. LED drivers are not laser drivers. LED's are tough as nails but laser diodes are much more sensitive and need extra features like soft start, overshoot protection and a very low noise output that are standard on laser drivers but not included on LED drivers to save cost since they are not necessary when driving a LED. I have seen a a few tutorials for building a "cheap laser" with this LED driver but it is a bad idea as I see it causing a lot of diode deaths and any build using it will  have reduced life or even risk immediate damage to the laser diode. Also
 this LED driver and variants of it have been popular here and are causing a lot of damage. See this
 LED Driver Scope Test on it. Please do your homework or shoot me a message if confused by the many offerings of "cheap 
drivers" as risking an expensive diode to save on a bargain driver is just not worth it. If you do use a LED driver you do so at your own risk.


Diode should be properly heatsinked and driven with a laser driver set to a no more than 1.8A.
