Stated Second Edition of 1962 Reprint of 19th Century Wilhelm Busch children's classic, Max and Maurice The Story of Two Rascals in Seven Pranks.

This English version was translated by Walter Roome, originally published in 1961 by Mansfield Book Mart, Montreal. This hardcover copy with color added to the illustrations was published and Printed in 1963 by Braun & Schneider Munchen.

This is small book, a little larger than 5 x 7 inches, with 56 pages. There is no dust jacket.

While the boards show various wear and blemishes, the inside of the book is in good condition with minor flaws consistent with a 50+ year old book. Indeed, overall, the book is in pretty good shape considering that it is a 50+ year old children's book.

Please recognize that although this book has various flaws, it is quite old, relatively irreplaceable and certainly collectible. Moreover, the flaws are relatively minor and not problematic or to the extent that they would impact on one's enjoyment or appreciation of this wonderful book. In any event, I have attempted to price the book with the various flaws taken into consideration.

Because condition is to such a large extent subjective, I try to provide you with any relevant information as well as  attempting to include photos of any and all significant or relevant blemishes to give you the opportunity to appropriately evaluate the general condition of the book.  Here, I believe the book's most significant flaws are with the various "wear and tear" to the cover and general aging issues, including some browning spots on several pages from aging- both of which can be seen and considered from the photos.

Specifically, there is corner wear to the boards, particularly the top and bottom right corners of the front cover board are rounded and show some fraying. The right side of the front board  shows considerable "rubbing", to the extent that the blue color has begun to wear away along the edge and especially at the top right corner where a significant amount of blue has worn away. There also are a few small red ink marks on the front cover under the author's name.  The front and back cover boards have various minor or barely noticeable stains, soiling and other relatively significant blemishes likely caused by the 50+ years of shelf storage and handling.

On the other hand, the inside of the book is really in very good condition. In my opinion, the only flaw of note with the inside of the book is the page discoloration due to the normal aging process- a number of pages have some light "browning" of various size and darkness. Most of the browning is slight, tiny and barely noticeable. However, as you can see by reviewing the photo of the Title Page, The browning and spotting can more pronounced as you can see on the Title Page, where it is as extensive as it is anywhere in the book. To that end, the page discoloration, while certainly a blemish, is not excessive or problematic to such an extent that should interfere with one's enjoyment of the book. Thus, the book overall is in nice collectible condition.

    Additional specifics include:
