■ Description
This original creative woodblock print by Katsuyuki Nishijima depicts the traditional inn Tajimaya in Magome, a historic post town along the Nakasendo in Japan.
The scene captures the atmosphere of an old Japanese post town, where traditional buildings and the surrounding mountain landscape preserve the character of the Edo-period highway.
Magome is located in Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture. The historic Nakasendo route passed through this area, connecting Kyoto and Edo (present-day Tokyo).
The region is known for its sloping terrain, wooded hills, rural scenery, and well-preserved traditional streets.
