Authentic vintage 1992 Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) pinback button issued to commemorate the visit of Mikhail Gorbachev on May 7, 1992.

A unique piece of financial and political history from the open-outcry trading floor era, when CME traders and clerks often wore promotional and commemorative buttons on their jackets.

Measures approximately 3" x 2". Very Good vintage condition. Glossy finish displays well. Occasional discoloration and spotting to the front and back edges and wear to the pin hardware area consistent with age and vintage use.  See photos for details.

Acquired from the collection of a former Chicago Mercantile Exchange employee.

Historical Context & Rarity These original promotional buttons were handed out directly to floor traders at the entrance of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) trading floor to celebrate major milestones, launches, or high-profile VIP visits. Because they were meant to be worn on a trader's jacket for just that specific day, the vast majority of them were simply discarded at the end of the trading session, making surviving examples highly collectible and incredibly difficult to find today.
