Vintage EPNS Silver Plated Rabbit Bunny Baby Rattle Teething Ring Christening

Description

A charming vintage baby rattle in the form of a sitting rabbit with its paws tucked up and one ear folded back, hung from a white teething ring. This style was a traditional christening or new-baby gift.

The rabbit is a hollow two-piece shell with nicely detailed fur texture and two sound holes in the base. It still rattles nicely when shaken. It hangs from a plated bail on a white plastic teething ring.

Stamped EPNS inside the loop (electroplated nickel silver). No maker’s mark.

Vintage condition, with honest age. There’s an even tarnish all over, and the plating is worn through to the base metal on the base and high points, with a few small green spots near the feet. The teething ring has light scuffs and old chew marks. Please see the photos, as they form part of the description.

It’s a lovely piece for a collection of vintage rattles or nursery items. Sold as a collectable for display only. It isn’t suitable for a baby to use.
