11 lb Mystery Green Stone Rough Quartz Vugs Botryoidal Lapidary Display Specimen - Acquired in the Middle of Nowhere Nevada

Sometimes I know exactly what I’m looking at—and sometimes I bring a rock home simply because it’s too beautiful to leave behind. This impressive 11-pound specimen falls squarely into the second category. I have not positively identified the material, so rather than guess, I’m offering it as a mystery stone and letting the rock speak for itself.

The color is what immediately grabs your attention. Vivid turquoise-green to blue-green mineralization winds across and through a warm tan and earthy brown matrix, appearing in seams, patches, and concentrated pockets. Several areas are particularly intriguing, with pale green rounded, bubble-like formations that almost resemble clusters of tiny crystals. They may be botryoidal or microcrystalline formations, but I have not identified them and don't want to overstate what they are. Other areas show white to cream-colored quartz-like material alongside the green.

At 11 pounds, there is a tremendous amount of material to explore. Different sides of the specimen look remarkably different, and the concentration of green appears to vary considerably throughout the rock. Whether someone chooses to cut into it, use portions for lapidary work, or leave it intact as a conversation-worthy display specimen, this is simply a fascinating piece.
