DESCRIPTION
This antique majolica planter beautifully exemplifies the vibrant art pottery produced by the historic Doulton Lambeth factory in London, England. This hexagonal vessel features six distinct architectural panels framed by arched borders, beautifully showcasing alternating relief scenes of local birds perched in foliage and lush floral compositions. The design is executed in a rich Victorian majolica palette of olive green, mustard yellow, and brown lead glazes over a thick earthenware body. The interior cavity is finished with a simple cream slip coating, and the unglazed base features an impressed factory mark alongside hand-painted initials.

The upper rim edge and exterior relief panels display minor typical pinpoint glaze pops, firing pits, and tiny fleabites from primary production. The interior shows expected light soil residue, ring stains from historical horticultural use, and a localized patch of surface discoloration. The unglazed foot rim shows typical shelf dust and minor friction wear.
