DESCRIPTION
This antique architectural furniture mount or clock applique features an openwork, fluid Rococo Revival design. Cast in heavy brass or bronze, the piece showcases sweeping acanthus leaves, stylized scrolling rocaille curves, and an openwork frame centering a smooth, oval cabochon medallion. The top tapers into a gadrooned urn finial ending in a small palmette bud motif. The reverse side reveals raw foundry textures, casting channels, and small integrated mounting pin holes placed along the side arms for attachment to clocks, cabinetry, or decorative woodwork.
CONDITION
Good antique condition with strong casting definition. The front surface retains a dark golden gilt finish featuring extensive natural oxidation, deep brown patina, and age-toning settled into the foliate crevices. The reverse hollow cavity shows significant age discoloration, historic dust, and areas of green verdigris spots. No structural breaks or modern metal repairs are present.
