Up for auction is a wonderful, 160+ antique Edwardian-era postcard album dating from circa 1904 to 1908. Almost all pages are filled with early original postcards held securely in corner die-cut slots (no glue or adhesive mounting).


The original correspondence centers around Miss Julia Nelson of Mt. Vernon, South Dakota, providing authentic regional provenance and snapshot history of the upper Midwest during the golden age of American postcards.

South Dakota Topographical & Rural: Real photo and lithographic views including Chamberlain, SD; Mt. Vernon correspondence; farming scenes; and classic tall-tale exaggeration humor ("How We Harvest Corn in South Dakota").

* **Postal History:** Plentiful early green 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamps and clear town cancels/machine postmarks dating 1904–1908 across the Undivided Back transition.


### **CONDITION DETAILS:**

* **Album:** Original green paper-wrapped boards with embossed ivy and cursive "Post Cards" calligraphy on the cover. Spine and corners show expected shelf wear, edge rubbing, a few pages have minor tears, and age toning consistent with a 120-year-old album. Binding remains intact.


Postcards: Cards show varying degrees of period handling, edge/corner wear, light postal cancellations, and postal ink. All cards rest in pre-cut slots and can be removed without paper tear.
