Stunning 1940s Vetta with a beautiful sector dial, Calatrava-style stainless-steel case and Swiss FEF 190 manual-winding movement.
Don't be shy, OPEN TO OFFERS !!!!!!!! Make Small Watches Great Again.
The watch features a 32.5 mm stainless-steel Calatrava-style case, with a clean flat bezel and beautifully shaped lugs. Its proportions and restrained design are very much in keeping with the elegant dress watches of the period, and naturally evoke the early Calatrava aesthetic of the Patek 96.
The real star of the watch is the sector dial.
The original aged cream/silver dial has developed a lovely natural patina over the decades, with concentric sector silver foil lines, bold Arabic numerals and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock.
Inside is a Swiss FEF 190 manual-winding movement, with subsidiary seconds. The movement is currently running and keeping relatively good time for its age (+/- 2min). As always with a watch approaching 80 years old, accuracy and power reserve cannot be guaranteed without a recent service.
I particularly like this Vetta because it has everything I look for in an honest vintage watch: small proportions, an unusual dial, beautiful ageing and a strong case design, without trying too hard.
A lovely piece for someone who appreciates the charm of 1930s/40s Swiss watches and wants something a little different from the usual names.
