Antique French Seltzogene D Fevre Paris Gazogene Soda Siphon Double Gourd c1900

Description

Antique French Véritable Seltzogène gazogène by D. Fèvre, Paris, from around 1880–1920.

This is a classic double-gourd home soda water maker from the era before gas cartridges. The lower globe held water, and the upper globe held the powders that made the gas to carbonate it.

The pewter collar is stamped "Véritable Seltzogène D. Fèvre Paris" and carries the engraved D. Fèvre signature, "Marque Déposée", and a size mark "5". It has its original pewter head and tap, with spout, both levers and finial, and the internal glass tube is intact.

D. Fèvre was one of the best-known Paris makers of seltzogènes. They are uncommon in Australia.
