George V Silver Dressing Table Box, Birmingham, c.1920
An elegant George V silver circular dressing table box, dating to circa 1920.
The box features a dark cover within a finely shaped scalloped silver border, delicately inlaid in silver piqué work with a neoclassical foliate wreath and ribbon ornament. The circular silver body is raised on three decorative cabriole legs, giving the piece a particularly attractive profile.
The hinged cover opens to reveal a cushioned interior. Hallmarked to the silver body for Birmingham, with maker's and date marks.
A charming early 20th-century dressing-table accessory, combining silver, tortoiseshell and delicate piqué decoration.
